Class Motto

Today is the day to learn something new!

Expectations

The rules for my classroom are there to create a safe environment for your child. We will go over these rules, as a class, in the beginning of the year and will review them on a regular basis.

            Classroom Rules:
1. Follow directions the first time given.
2. Raise your hand to speak or leave your seat.
3. Be prepared to learn.
4. Show respect to others; adults and fellow classmates.
5. Keep hands, feet, and other objects to yourself.

Consequences:

1. Verbal warning or reprimand.
2. Change their color on the Stop Light behavioral chart.
3. Move to the Chill Out Zone.
4. Contact home and send home Think Sheet for parents to read over and sign.
5. Contact administration

We will use a Stop Light behavioral chart in the classroom that will serve as a visual reminder and encouragement to behave appropriately and make good choices. I will also send home a weekly behavioral report in the Child Communication Folder for parents to see and sign. This form will include areas that need improvement, ongoing behavioral problems that need to be addressed, and positive feedback as well. These forms, once signed and recognized by parents, will be inserted and kept in the students file for records of behavioral issues for future references.

Reward System:

In my class, I plan on incorporating two main reward systems to encourage positive choice of behavior. The first system would be called Warm Fuzzies. For each good action or choice a student makes, he or she receives a warm fuzzy (a colored cotton ball) from the teacher. When a student reaches ten warm fuzzies, he or she is allowed to choose a coupon from the provided selection. These coupons include privileges such as teacher helper, eat lunch with the teacher, show and tell, etc.

The second system is directed towards the class making good choices as a whole. When recognized, the class will received a tally mark on the board. When they reach 15, the class will receive a special treat, which will vary throughout the year.
